Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 159, chartered by All Saints Catholic School. Pack meetings are normally held on the third Monday of each month, beginning at 7:00 pm in Sunflower Hall (please see the Pack and Committee meeting schedule for details). Scouts also typically meet weekly or bi-weekly in dens or patrols to work on projects and activities. As a result of these programs and with additional help at home, Scouts can earn advancement and recognition. Scouting is a family activity. We are planning a great 2005-2006. Highlights include:
The monthly Pack meetings and weekly den/patrol meetings are for the Scouts. Committee meetings, where the adult leadership plans activities and administers the Pack, are held the second Thursday of each month. Adult leaders are always needed. Please consider registering as an adult leader this year - the Pack defers the registration fee for any adult willing to serve! Our Cubmaster is Fred Flies - he can be reached at cubmaster@pack159.org. Besides teaching values, Scouting is itself a value. The national registration fee and insurance is $10.80. Each family also receives a subscription to Boys' Life magazine at a cost of $10.80.We have one fundraiser a year, the Trail's End Popcorn Sale. If each Scout does his part, then the Pack will be able to reach its goals and defer the cost of some events. The Pack also recycles aluminum cans (bins are located in the school parking lot). Scouting is a worldwide movement of youth groups whose objective is to help boys and girls develop character, citizenship, and physical and mental fitness by training members in wood, field, and handicraft activities and by encouraging community service. Many nations have scouting organizations and the number of boy and girl scouts totals several million members throughout the world. The age groupings within the organization are: Tiger cubs (age 7 or in the 1st grade); Wolf cubs (age 8 or in 2nd grade); Bear cubs (age 9 or in 3rd grade); and Webelos (ages 10-12 or in grades 4-5). |
